Glendale youth league summer ball registration opens soon

Baseball, softball, T-ball leagues for ages 4-14

The Glendale Youth Sports League (GYSL) is winding up for summer baseball, softball and T-ball season for 4- to 14-year-olds.

Registration runs Monday, Feb. 24 through Friday, April 17. Participants registered by Friday, March 6 will receive two free tickets to a spring training game at Camelback Ranch-Glendale. Practice starts mid-May and games begin June 1.

The Glendale Youth Sports League emphasizes physical fitness, equal participation and social and skill development. The following divisions are being offered:

  • T-Ball: ages 4-6
  • Baseball: Pee-wee Ages 6-8 (coach pitch), Rookies Ages 8-10 (machine pitch), Minor Ages 10-12 (kid pitch), Major Ages 12-14 (kid pitch)
  • Softball: Ponytail Ages 6-8 (coach pitch), Cholla Ages 8-10 (machine pitch), Ocotillo Ages 10-12 (kid pitch), Cactus Ages 12-14 (kid pitch)

Registration fee $55 for Glendale residents ($75 for non- residents) and includes a team T-shirt, baseball cap and up to eight games. Sign up online at glendaleaz.com/parksandrec or call 623-930-2820.

The city is looking for persons age 18 and older to volunteer to coach. A head coach application should be submitted to the Glendale Parks and Recreation Office, 5970 W. Brown St., by Friday, April 17.
