Virtual career support for women launches in metro-Phoenix in Response to COVID-19

Dress for Success Phoenix, an organization dedicated to empowering women to achieve success by providing a network of support, has launched a suite of career-ready services accessible to women Valley-wide through its free virtual career support programs.

With COVID-19 poised to have a profound impact on jobs and the economy, Dress for Success Phoenix remains a vital resource for all women throughout the Phoenix community.

“Dress for Success Phoenix is continuing to serve our community amidst these unprecedented times stemming from COVID-19,” said Lisa Doromal, founder and CEO of Dress for Success Phoenix. “It remains to be seen how the job market will be impacted, but we know that many women are already experiencing an increased need for career training and employment. As a result, our team is prepared to operate in a virtual capacity to make free career services accessible to women throughout metro-Phoenix. While we are not providing face-to-face services for the time being given the current ‘Stay-at-Home’ order in Arizona, our career specialists are available by phone and email for any client who needs our services.”

To further assist women throughout the community, Dress for Success Phoenix has also launched free online career services and videos. The list of resources available are as follows.

Job-Readiness Videos: Dress for Success Phoenix will be hosting a series of free, online job-readiness videos weekly on Thursdays at 10 a.m. MST throughout the month of April. The schedule is as follows:

  • April 9 "Resources Available in Your Community”
  • April 16 "Making Your Resume Stand Out “
  • April 23 "Creating a Career Path Pathway”
  • April 30 "Online Job Search Tips"

Additionally, Dress for Success Phoenix will have a Facebook Live ‘Career Fast Track’ event that is free and open to the public and can be accessed on the organization’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/dressforsuccessphoenix/, and will be streaming live at 10 a.m. on the following dates:

  • April 15
  • April 29

While Dress for Success Phoenix services are not available face-to-face at this time, the organization now offers the following career services by phone and email:

  • One-on-one career counseling: One-on-one career coaching enables Dress for Success Phoenix clients to identify personalized career paths. The organization works with clients to assess skills and interests, and identify ongoing education tools, workforce trends and provide confidence needed to be successful in the job market.
  • Online job search: Career center specialists will work with each Dress for Success Phoenix client to find personalized resources and employment opportunities that are available immediately. The organization also works with individuals virtually to help them navigate the computer system to apply for positions of interest.
  • Resume and cover letter assistance: Career center specialists work with each client to craft a resume that will get attention and results, showcasing the client’s skills and work experience.
  • 30-Second Elevator Speech: The organization will coach a client through giving a 30-second professional summary of their personal skills and strengths so it is clear to a company the benefits of hiring you.
  • Mock interview assistance: Virtually or by phone, career specialists emulate a job interview for training purposes. The organization provides clients with the questions that are used in various industries to prepare each individual.

The community can support these free career resources by making donations via the Dress for Success Phoenix website at Phoenix.DressForSuccess.org.

Additionally, the online giving for Arizona Gives Day on Tuesday, April 7 has opened up and individuals can make donations to Dress for Success Phoenix. This is a special day for people throughout Arizona to connect with the causes they believe in, that support our community at a time we particularly need it most. Any SNAP recipients can be eligible for additional resources.
